The Thirteen Principles of Haderekh Judaism
(paraphrased from the Rambam (Maimonides) ) and edited by Rabbi Jonathan Dees
- I believe that יהוה [Adonai] is the Creator and Ruler of all things. He alone has made, does make, and will make all things.
- I believe that יהוה [Adonai] is Echad [a unified plurality]. There is no unified plurality that is in any way like His. He alone is our יהוה [Adonai] He was, He is, and He will be.
- I believe that יהוה [Adonai] does not have a body. Physical concepts do not apply to Him. There is nothing whatsoever that resembles Him at all.
- I believe that יהוה [Adonai] is first and last.
- I believe that it is only proper to pray to יהוה [Adonai]. One may not pray to anyone or anything else.
- I believe that all the words of the prophets are true.
- I believe that the prophecy of Moses is absolutely true. He was the chief of all prophets.
- I believe that the entire Torah [instructions] that we now have [from the first word of Beresheet to the last word of Revelation] was given by יהוה [Adonai].
- I believe that this Torah will not be changed, and that there will never be another given by יהוה [Adonai].
- I believe that יהוה [Adonai] knows all of man's deeds and thoughts.
- I believe that יהוה [Adonai] rewards those who keep His commandments, and punishes those who transgress them.
- I believe in the coming of the Messiah. How ever long it takes, I will await His return every day.
- I believe that the dead will be brought back to life when יהוה [Adonai] wills it to happen.
